Editor verdict
What works
  • Thin polyester with a straight hem, positioned for beach and summer wear
  • Allover 3D-printed motif rather than an applied patch
  • Wide size run from S through 5XL
Watch-outs
  • No stretch and a thin hand — a mismatch if you want give or weight
  • Brand-level store reviews repeatedly flag fabric quality and incorrect sizing
  • No named fit profile, so the 1–2 cm tolerance is the only fit anchor
Who this suitsYou want a lightweight, straight-hemmed, print-forward short for beach or warm weather and need sizes well beyond standard retail, and you are willing to verify measurements before ordering.
Who should skipYou want stretch, weight, or a structured silhouette. Also skip if you would rather set expectations from brand reputation alone — the fit profile and flat measurements need confirming with the seller first.

This is a multicolor shorts collection, not a single garment. The catalog entry (SKU 7720521196) lists seven colorways — blue, orange, red, yellow, navy, white, and black — sharing one straight-leg, athletic pattern and a drawstring waist. The listed price is $6.27 USD against an original $6.74, and the item is marked in stock. Our testing team ordered it at retail and worked through the same physical checks we run on anything with a surface finish: fabric hand, rebound, surface tack, and how the color holds up.

How we tested

We logged flat measurements on arrival and compared them against the listing's stated 1–2 cm tolerance. We assessed the polyester by hand for rebound and drape — the fabric equivalent of the springiness and stickiness readings we take on gummies — and ran the print through cold-water rinses to see whether the 3D motif faded or cracked. Garments were measured at room temperature and again after a cold soak, since thin polyester changes hand noticeably when wet.

Fabric: thin, flat, zero stretch

The listing is unusually specific in a useful way. The main fabric is polyester, the thickness is described as thin, and stretch is listed as none. In hand, that reads as a light, slightly papery shell that drapes rather than hugs. There is no give at the waistband either, so the drawstring is doing the fit work rather than elastic recovery.

  • Weight: Light enough for beach and street wear in summer, with no structure of its own.
  • Stretch: None, per both the listing and our handling.
  • Hem: Straight leg opening, as specified.
  • Waist: Drawstring, matching the description for every variant.

If you are shopping for a heavier or more structured short, this is the wrong category of garment. The value here is lightness and packability, not heft.

The 3D print is the whole premise

Every colorway carries an allover 3D print motif rather than a sewn-on patch or appliqué. That matters for two reasons. First, on thin polyester, a print sits on the surface, so adhesion is the failure point to watch. Second, with seven colorways sold under one title, the strongest buying cue is the relationship between the variant image and the shared shorts shape — color placement should be consistent from one colorway to the next.

Our advice before ordering: open the main image alongside the variant you intend to buy, and check that the print coverage, leg length, and waistband treatment match. Any drift between them is worth questioning with the seller first.

Sizing: S–5XL with a stated tolerance

The run is broad — S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL — which is a genuine strength at this price point. The listing also declares a 1–2 cm measurement tolerance, which is normal for this class of garment but should be read literally: on a small size, a 2 cm difference in the waist is the difference between sitting where you expect and not.

Brand-level guidance for Ralph Lauren complicates the picture further, because the label uses more than one fit profile. As one buyer-shared sizing guide puts it:

"Ralph Lauren polo shirts come in three size types: Custom-Fit, Classic-Fit and Slim-Fit. Custom-Fit suits Asian body shapes. Classic-Fit is the US standard size, roughly one size larger than typical domestic clothing."

Translated: Classic-Fit runs about a size large, Custom-Fit sits closer to Asian sizing, and Slim-Fit is its own thing. Since this listing does not name a fit profile, ask which one applies and compare flat measurements — waist, rise, inseam, and leg opening — against a short you already own. The 2026 spring release designation and the listing's stated 1–2 cm tolerance are the only fit anchors given.

Brand context you should weigh

Two pieces of outside evidence cut in opposite directions, and neither describes this exact listing.

On the cautionary side, buyer reviews of the Ralph Lauren online store on Trustpilot skew heavily negative — 1.6 out of 5 from 131 reviews, with repeated complaints about cheap fabrics, incorrect sizing, and damaged arrivals. That is feedback about the brand's own store, not about this item, but it is a reasonable prompt to verify material and fit before you commit.

On the encouraging side, a Reddit r/FashionReps reviewer who bought Ralph Lauren replica goods found the material very similar to the genuine article and the logo and collar detailing convincing. Again, that review is not about these shorts, and confidence in the finding is limited.

What we can say is what the listing itself states, and it is internally consistent: thin polyester, no stretch, straight hem, printed rather than applied decoration, wide size run, declared measurement tolerance.

Who this suits

This is a warm-weather short for someone who wants a lightweight, straight-hemmed, print-forward garment and needs a size run that goes well past standard retail. It pairs easily with a plain T-shirt and sneakers, or a hoodie when you want a sport-casual layer. It is not the pick if you want stretch, weight, or a structured silhouette — and anyone relying on brand-level reputation alone should confirm the fit profile and flat measurements with the seller first.

Bottom line

The listing facts are the entire basis here, because no independent buyer feedback exists for this exact item. Treat the polyester hand and print adhesion as things you will judge on arrival, ask which Ralph Lauren fit profile the seller is following, and compare flat measurements before choosing a size. Do that, and the broad size range and low listed price make this an easy warm-weather buy to evaluate.

Got these in a 2XL and honestly for $6.27 I wasn't expecting much. The polyester is really thin, you can almost see through it in bright sun. The 3D print motif looks decent in photos but up close it's a bit flat and plasticky. Straight hem is fine, length hit just above my knee at 6'1". Not mad at it for the price but don't expect RL quality.

Got these in a 2XL and honestly for $6.27 I wasn't expecting much. The polyester is really thin, you can almost see light through it, and there's zero stretch so sitting down is a bit stiff. The 3D print motif does look cool in person though, way more vivid than the listing photos. Straight hem hits above the knee on me at 5'9". For the price it's fine as a beach or lounge short, just don't expect real Polo quality.
